AK finishing tips needed for kit builds

I hope to finish my first AK build in a couple of weeks (delayed due to interuptions). For the metal parts, I was thinking of parkerizing them. But I'm not dead set on going down that path.

For those that have done this before, how did you finish the metal parts when you were done with the kit build and test?

Thanks.

Engine/grille/stove paint and an oven, as long as you can stand the wifes 'point of view-...do it when she isn't home. Works great, thats how I finish mine.

JD,
What's your build again ?? What are you changing, if anything, or are you just slapping a receiver on a cleaned up kit ?? I'm real curious, because you're about 4 weeks ahead of me. I placed my order this morning

So what are your plans for that kit you bought ??
Now I gotta go find that gun you bought!

einheit,
Won't hurt you, is right!!
ETA: Fill me in. What's this stand for ??

Gore's nutty idea
Gore proposed last week that the United States "commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years."

Not just all new electricity, mind you, which would be challenging enough. But all existing electricity, too.

I'm building a Romanian AK. You make it sound so simple with "just slapping a receiver on a cleaned up kit" I thought it was that simple, but not anymore. I bought the kit at Military Gun Supply, who is now out of them. I believe Apex had some too, but I heard they are now out stock too.

I've got the barrel pin out, rear trunnion off, and the trigger guard with the little support piece off. I'm working on a tool for removing and reinstalling the barrel based on this guy's idea
How to make a barrel tool for

My friend is building 2 AKs with kits from the same supplier. We've got a fixture for bending the Tapco flats. Not sure if it works, but we should know soon.

My plan for the rifle is get it looking like it just came off the Romanian assembly line. I will likely buy some alternate furniture for it too, so I can switch it around. But the alternate furniture will likely go on a "beater" second build that I'll try in another month or so.

This gun will just go in a collection of 'good to have' guns that serve a variety of purposes. I shoot the heck out of my guns so it won't be a shelf or safe baby.

John Norrell Arms

Its cheap and very durable!
Heat the parts up to 200 degrees instead of 100 degrees before applying and it will give it a more parerized look but it will be much more durable.
