Looking for my first rifle. Saiga .223?
So I’m in the market for my first rifle. I’m not a complete noob to firearms but I have very little experience with rifles. I’ve been scouring the internet for reviews and such and have come to the conclusion that I really like the looks of AK type rifles. Having never fired one, I’m curious to know if you guys think the rifle below would be a good choice.
https://www.gilbertsguns.com/Rifles/...etonized+Stock I’ve thought about a bolt rifle but I just can seem to get excited about them. Unfortunately, money is a concern so I’m trying to keep my purchase around $300. The main purpose of this rifle will be fun at the range. I can’t see myself ever hunting or shooting at a greater distance than 100 yards. All advice is welcome. Thanks

Saiga .223 Rifle
with Thumbhole Stock
Part #SAI-223DSK - SAI-223DSK
these guys are in Ga...never mind the picture, its the same gun as above. Saiga .223 Rifle- 16.3 Inch Barrel @ Stanleys Pro Shop If you can deal without a 'pistol grip' stock, its even cheaper..... Saiga .223 Rem Rifle - 16.3 inch Barrel @ Stanleys Pro Shop ETA: I think Gilbert's is a forum sponsor-buy from the sponsors first, show your support!

I have a standard stock in 7.62 X39 works great for me. Head shot on every animal I've ever used it on, but thats 25 yards or less. Fun gun. the 223 ones are a little heavy due to same diameter barrel as the 7.62, but that just makes it gentler.
