I found some of those, but someone on another site with a Poly-Tech told me it HAD to be a Chinese Type 1. He informed me he had tried several others, but they were not quite the same size and did not fit properly. So, as you are the resident professional, is that correct?

Could be, Chinese guns do have a larger barrel diameter, but so do Russian, Egyptian, Bulgarian, and MAADIs. Find a Chinese bayonet or make one fit....its really simple.
Keep an eye out here too, sometimes they come up with hard to find parts.
