Lancaster AK
I was thinking about picking up one of these. Does anyone own one. I might have a local guy selling one. Opinions please.
Atlantic firearms - AR15 & AK47 rifles - Olympic arms at wholesale prices. |

I know way to much about them. I know Chet, the owner of Lancaster. I can generally tell you what is right with those guns and what is wrong with them. Chet does not build the guns with his own hands, he's more of a salesmen. Rather he pays guys $10 to do it. I've even meet one of his gunsmiths and we talked for a while.
I'm a part-time gunsmith with one of his local competetors. I have built 208 AK-47's to date (Romanian G's, virgin Krink underfolders, virgin Yugo underfolders, Yugo RPK's, etc.). We had a Lancaster AK that came in for service. The customer no longer trusted Landcaster's work so he let us fix it. The problem was that the hammer would follow. We fixed it with properly altering the deminsions on the hammer and disconnector. This is something Lancaster does not do, nor do they understand how to do it. For a proper fit all trigger groups need to be fit for proper function. I'm not hear to bash Lancaster or to try to sell more guns for the shop owner I work for (notice that I have not said the shop that I work for). I'm just hear to say that people have had some mixed experiences with them and I seen this first hand. I have other experiences I could share, too. Lancaster's rifles, when the first came out, had an great reputation. At that time they had a tool and die maker building the guns for him. However, they had a falling out and now he has guys in there that are less qualified. Do I believe Landcaster guns are better quality than a WASR for over all quality, fit and finish? Yes!
