Is that scope mount attached directly to the dust cover? Does it hold a zero?

Yes it is? I actually bought it 2 years ago through CTD...(at least I think I did  ) AKS-020 - AK-47 UTG Weaver Style Scope Mount and See Thru 1" Rings Imported All Steel and Easy Installation!
I wouldn't necessarily say it holds zero, but here's a picture that we took back in Mar 2008. Excuse the other shots to the side and below, my boys were shooting the AR-15 using iron sights.

first let me appologize, crappy pics, and no complete guns. sorry. but gotta share the deal I got. AMD 65 and 63 kits, 63 is in VG+ cond, 65 is good. both excellent bores. got from a friend for $325 total -post Obama and barrel ban on 1/24/09. missing a few easy to find small parts.

Khyber Pass build
still needs a refinish FCG, rear sight, and side folder parts installed. built on a Nodak 1KP receiver with a romanian G parts kit, russian rear side folder with rolled edges, and russian AK-74 handguards.. going to get the trunion ingraved with Russian markings eventually, and the G removed ! its a slow work in progress lol
