M92 PAP Quick Impressions

I picked mine up last week. The pawn shop had it for weeks and no takers. Serial # is under 130 so I'm guessing it's one of the first 130 pistols to come out of the production line. After doing a quick inspection, here are my quick impressions

- bolt carrier is standard Yugo (not skinny like the PAP rifle). No sear trip
- rear trunnion appears to be uncut underfolder similar to the M92 virgin kits
- muzzle protector is tack welded to the FSB. FSB is threaded, no plunger pin assy.
- FSB and RSB have flip up dots (night sights?)
- finish is matte blue
- factory trigger assy is double hook - very smooth release
- FSB threads are 26mm LH. M92 booster fits perfect

Pics (stock is a mock up only)

M92 booster and detent pin installed

From a quality and workmanship standpoint, the M92 is up there. Very good fitting, rivets are perfect, sights are straight, and finish is nice. It's definitely a notch or two above a Draco or mini-draco in terms of fit and finish.

Looking forward to taking it to the range soon.

Do you plan to go the NFA route and SBR or just going to have the pistol more for novelty? I've been flirting with getting an AK pistol since the original draco hit the market but just haven't been able to talk myself into it. I've never payed them a whole lot of mind I guess. From the way it looks you would just have to rivet in a rear trunnion to slap on a stock (with proper paperwork)?

I actually bought another one. I'm keeping one as mint as possible for future generations. The other? Very likely SBR in the future. I can't put the correct Underfolder stock due to the location of the serial number. A triangle side folding stock may work but its a lot of work. The rear trunnion needs to be replaced with the side folding trunion, old rivet holes welded shut and new ones drilled. The front trunnion will need to be removed then shaved at the bottom for the side folder retaining latch.

Worse case, some type of ACE stock.

CGP, that's sweet. Mine should be arriving at my FFL in a couple of days. Where did you get the cone muzzle brake though? I've been looking everywhere for one.

The brake came from my M92 virgin kit, including the detent pins. There's a guy on AR15.com selling detent pins. As far as the M92 brake, all sold out as far as I know.

Check out AK-Builder.com. They have 4-piece Bulgarian style boosters threaded for the M92.

My LGS actually had a M92 on the shelf yesterday. Huge difference in quality appearance over WASRs and such.

Indeed. This is what I wished my old Draco to be like.
