Red Dots on AK 7.62

I would like to put a red dot on my AK, but dont want to spend a ton of money. I tried a $100.00 Sight Mark and that died after about 100 rounds. Does anyone have a recommendation? Spending $400+ is not an answer though.

Try a vortex sparc.

Or Primary Arms

I second primary arms. I had one and it was a great little red dot. I had a freind who had a little bushnell for 80 bucks much like the sparc and the one primary arms offers and its been a good one for him. I had no problem using it.

get one with unlimited warranty which i think is vortex. Other than that, do with out, if you burn through 2-3-4 red dots 70-150 each, you could have had an aimpoint, and also shows you did infact have the money.

You can get an unkillable aimpoint for as cheap as $360, they had one a few days ago on slickguns Aimpoint: Patrol Rifle Optic Sight PRO, 2MOA Dot - $360 after coupon + Free Shipping | Slickguns

Get a vortex it will be good, maybe or probably eventually break, but they will get you a new one, so as long as your time is cheap in your mind, and cash is low, its a very good choice.

i have one on a 22 marlin, but i do not trust them to last on 30 cal rifles, maybe not even a 223. Its inexpensive, but to costly to be the beta tester for how many hundred rds it will last.

I know it will last on a 22 atleast 3-4-5 years, many many many thousands of rounds. By then, who knows what will be out, and how cheap it will be.

It does not feel particularly cheap, or lacking, but the reviews say shotties and 30 cal rifles will kill it in pretty short order.

Kinda surprised the heat did not kill it above that amd 65 handguard. Those get pretty dang hot dont they ?

I think its a great red dot for the price, but for the price its not good to try to make it take more than it can take.

Works pretty dang well for me. Granted I don't abuse it (too much). I might have done a drum dump or two. The Ultimak does get hot, but not enough to damage the optic, at least from my actual use. I've had no failures with it on the AMD. It's a perfect setup for me and has a nice co-witness with my iron sights. It's been around for a while and many have used it on shotguns and 30+ calibers so I wouldn't necessary categorize it as a beta product.

I certainly wouldn't compare it to an Aimpoint. There's a REASON why those are so damn expensive. The TRS-25 probably wouldn't survive a drop test or submersion test. I can live with that for the price. And as with anything priced under $100, YMMV. I can say that between the TRS-25 vs the more expensive Primary Arms Aimpoint copy, the TRS-25 wins as far as toughness.

maybe i mis-spoke i meant beta test to see the failure point. They are pretty dang neat, pretty well built for the price. I dont think i can wear it out, or bump it to failure on a 22.

I just dont have confidence in it on my 870 or fal, thats for sure. I think i would use it a couple days, then it fails, and i would think, well theres a nice waste of 75 plus shipping and handling.

My friend has a primary arms micro mounted on a midwest rail and he likes it a lot.
