Anybody here put an AR style telescoping stock on their AK?
When I was stuck in the AK vs. AR vs. Mini 14 debate for a tactical carbine/rifle, one of the only things that made me initially shy away from the AK was its spartan feel. Both AR's and the Mini's felt much more user comfortable and friendly to wield. My thinking was, if the gun wasn't as comfortable to shoulder, grip and aim down the sights, then I wouldn't enjoy shooting it and therefore would limit my long term ability with it.
Well I ended up going with the AK (Arsenal SGL21) anyway because other advantages that can't be ignored. After putting a few hundred rounds through it, its wasn't as bad as I had feared in terms of feel, but I'm still considering changing out the fixed NATO length stock for an AR style telescoping model for greater versatility and most importantly increased ease of use. The stock on my arsenal is unpadded and lightly bruises my shoulder after firing a few magazines worth of ammo, and the surface area that meets the shoulder when aiming is thin which I've found this makes it ore difficult to shoulder quickly and solidly.
Has anybody here explored this avenue? I believe after researching there are some good options out there. Does anybody recommend or advise against changing of the stock? I'm still an AK noob.

I'm currently waiting on the parts to swap the stock on my SGL21-66. All the reviews I've read say the conversion works fine & is very solid.
I went with the Vltor AK47 modstock adapter (got it from Element Arms since most places are out of stock at the moment):
AK47 Modstock Adapter - Vltor Weapon Systems Store
I also ordered a Magpul CTR (milspec) stock and plan to add a Magpul cheek riser (maybe the 0.5" model) to get everything lined up nicely for a red dot later.

Actually that is a very common thing to do and easily done, too. True to being an AK it's real simple to take the existing stock off, you may have to pull like hell ("In Russia, stock takes off YOU!") once you have removed the screw. If you pick a stock that is correct for either your stamped or milled receiver you should at the most have to do a little filing to make it fit. Or use a hammer (it's an AK after all) and make it fit.

Anybody got experience of read much on Mako's recoil compensating AR style stock for stamped receiver AK's? The tube is mil-spec polymer. Not sure if aluminum or other metals are a necessity or not. Not trying to put a TAPCO or something real cheap on it.
