Question Romanian AK (WASR 10/63) unable to remove butt stock?

Yep, wasn't able to remove the butt stock. Followed some directions I found on the web but it really does not budge. Unscrewed the retaining screw, tried to pry out with large flat bladed screw driver. Even banged a little with a big rubber mallet but no go. Just will not come out. I used as much force as I felt comfortable with for fear of damaging something if I was in fact missing some trick.

I don't need this off yet, just wanted to get familiar. However, I may be interested in a folding stock at some point so I would like to know I can get it off. I assume the folders are made (or some of them are) to attach to the gun the same way the original did with no modification needed?

There are two retaining screws. One is outside the receiver, and the other is under the recoil spring retainer.

If you still can't move it, get a rubber hammer and whack the last inch of the butt stock on the top and bottom (alternate each whack). It'll eventually come out (once you get the two screws out).

Exactly what I've had to do with my WASR stock every time I've removed it. WHACK. Switch sides. WHACK. Switch sides. WHACK. Switch sides. Over and over and over again . . . eventually it starts to work its way out.

The rubber mallet hasn't done any damage to the stock.

It's wood! Ream it out if you can't bang it off.
