I like them with the orignal equipment. Most "tactical" AK's look like they where kidnapped by a mall ninja and forced to go to a tapco convention...

Nothing wrong with a tactifully (no pun intended) upgraded AK. The Polish Beryl is a good example. The Ultimak gas tube rails look decent with forward mounted optics. Quadrail handguards and a 6 position collapasble stock on an AK make me want to puke.

anyways I have to say Orignal Factory Plum Flavor then black, For the wood furniture i like the orignal Soviet honey colored wood furniture the best, sorry not a fan of ironwood, or the fake "Russian Red" look lancaster has on there rifles, IMO that is the WORST representation of Soviet wood furniture ive ever seen.

I like my tacticool rifle, not a lot of things added on to it, but I do like my quad rail with the T-Pod. Keep everything black and poly on it, but the less Tapco the better. I like the K-Var stuff personally. I didn't build it to make anyone happy but me, it's fun for what I do with it.

I would like to do a wood build later on as well, just to get that ol' rough comblock look to it.

Edit: Oh I like a solid stock or a folder on one... can't stand the collapsibles myself... still like my quad rail though, so I hope it only makes ya puke a little bit blefferd. :P

purist here, but I dont mind looking at some that are not all tacticooled out, but just a little. Those that can balance the ak rugidness with a little tactical stuff are good to go in my book. However a lot of people cant pull it off and it looks like a big mess.

It doesn't matter to me either way. I like wood, but I don't mind plastic or aluminum furniture either as long as it works for me.

The only thing about most combloc buttstocks though is they don't fit me. They always seem short, and is why I put an ATI strikeforce stock and grip on my AK so it'll fit me better. I wasn't going for tacticool, but having shot AR's for years, I'm quite used to the way they feel and I like it better that way.

I'm not a fan of lasers on any gun, but I don't mind a light for their purpose.

I use my AK with iron sights, and I dont' have any kind of front grip on it either.

I have front grips on my SBR AR, and my M4 and on my submachinegun. I have 2 grips on my Mossy 500 so I can shoot it shouldered or from the hip much easier too.

I guess I would be in the tacticool class of people. I see a gun and start thinking, "man, it would be much better with...."

I'm a purist mostly, but if it makes your AK easier for you to use....except for the aluminum quad rails. I have one set up from OTK for a light and a grip that I will occasionally use. Optics via side rail. Sorry, but when I 'heat' things up at the range, I can still hold on to the poly/wood/bakelite hand guard, the aluminum will usually be too hot to touch and a little heavier on an already muzzle heavy weapon.

I wouldn't mind having a nice wood stock but since I have a Saiga...it would be too much of a hassle at the moment I don't mind composite stocks...I really would like an ACE side folder
