Didn't want to. I like it like this. While I'm at it logically on the sling attachment, its got a slot, and a hole for a clip, should the hole logically be up or down, and why?
I believe that you are not legal at this time. If you put the original stock back on you will be.

He's fine, as long as he sticks to 10 round mags.

Oh so I am still illegal by one guess I gotta buy an American handgaurd. Why would 10 round mags make a difference?

Convert it. That stock is an abomination.

This is mostly related to the topic at hand, so it's not a complete hijack.

I'm planning a Saiga conversion hopefully before the end of the summer, and I'm trying to decide which stock length to get. I'm 6' 1" and have a pretty decent wingspan--should I get the NATO-length stock or stick with the standard? You people may not even be able to help me with this, but maybe somebody who's close to my height who's tried both can weigh in.

i am ... converting two of them.

one i am putting a kvar nato length stock on. (7.62x39)

the other i am putting an ACE m4 stock... still an abomination to the purists ... but like yocan i am a yetti as nalioth called us ... i am 6'4" ... the m4 ace stock is going on my .223 saiga. Function over form.

Still waiting for a few parts to show up. Then in a week or two i will post up pics of them both when i am done.

I wouldnt buy that stock ... but if yocan likes it .. it was an easy fix. I resent the configuration to much to put more good money into keeping it in its bastardized configuration.

poly, i posted that link to the tapco integrated pistol grip, cause i wasnt sure what yocan had thats all.

cheers.

I think the NATO size would be more ergonomically correct for you dan.

If one is over 5'10 or so i would go with the nato.

Not that if one is 5'9/5'10 the original stock is like a mini kids toy stock, but folks in the west are a good bit bigger than russian farm boys born 90-100 years ago, for whom the original AK was designed for.

That's pretty much my train of thought, too. I suppose if I don't like it I can always just switch it out for the other, but I'd like to get it right the first time. Thanks.

The two sizes work equally well - you just need to train up on whichever length you are going to use.

Training is the name of game.

Understood. Ultimately the plan calls for mounting a Kobra, Aimpoint, or some other similar "eyes open" sighting system on it--would the longer stock affect the eye relief/focus distance/whatever of the sight?
