Saiga Bullet Guide Install

I ordered just the bullet guide not the kit from Dinzag (by mistake i was in a rush). Does anyone know what size drill bit you use to install it? Also the instructions I've read aren't too clear about which part of the mag catch on the rifle I shave off so it takes AK mags. Does anyone know where I could find better instructions for that part? Thanks!

Dinzag has instructions on his site in convenient PDF format.

Depending on which "ak mags" you're discussing, you may not have to shave anything.

The Saiga forum has all this info and more . . .

Unless I'm wrong I think he tells you how to do it with the kit he sells, not how to do it with your own drill bit (size). I hope to use standard AK mags.

The drill bit is usually included with the kit.

The tap I got from Dinzag is a 6-32, which takes about a 7/64 drill according the interwebs. I can't read what my drill says, it's TiN coated and too small so the numbers are distorted. You know you need a tap too, right?

Oh, and be careful. I chucked that thing up in a press and after drilling out the spot weld on the trigger guard I thought I was in for a fight. With that thin drill, I was through the trunion in literally five seconds.

That was about 15 minutes before I broke the tap trying to thread the hole.

Yes, I know I need a tap too, thank you for the help! I'll have to be very careful...and buy more than one tap!

I was lucky and it worked the first time. I took my time, was very careful with the tap, went very slow. Remember to tap in a few turns, (creating the threads) back it out to remove shavings and tap in further, repeat.
